90s Flashback: Janet Jackson // Got ‘Til It’s Gone [Feat. Q-Tip]

While never being much of a Janet fan, I can’t argue that she made some cracker songs in the 90s.

'Got 'Til It's Gone' was the lead single off 'The Velvet Rope' and features Q-Tip who provides a verse and many improvisations throughout the song. I just love how chilled and laid back this song is thanks to it's subdued kicks and that sultry neo-soul piano which highlights Janet's dreamy vocals.

Despite the controversy the surrounded the samples within the song as well as the production, I’ve always found this to be one of Janet’s most underrated songs. To me, this song is a perfect example of 90s R&B/Hip-Hop, and one that you should enjoy spinning again.
